Mae Dessauvage is an interdisciplinary artist based in Ghent (BE) and Brooklyn (US). She graduated with a Master's degree in Architecture from Harvard University, Cambridge (US) in 2021 and a Bachelor's degree from Columbia University, New York (US) in 2017. Her work depicts intimate scenes based on iconography and her personal transgender experience. Drawing parallels between medieval painting, postmodern architecture and contemporary comics, she re-defines their visual languages to create new psychological narratives. Her work has recently been exhibited at Art Brussels, Belgian Art & Design, NADA NY, and S.M.A.K. Museum, and is included in international collections such as M Woods Museum (CN). Recent solo exhibitions include So Glad to Have Found It at Tatjana Pieters (BE) and The Sleeping Hermaphrodite at The Green Corridor (BE). She has been a resident artist at PADA Studios (PT), Trestle Gallery (US), and The Green Corridor (BE). She is currently working on her forthcoming monograph, The Dollhouse, published by Blurring Books NY.
